The Rhett Walters Memorial Mountain Bike Trail, which was inaugurated on October 30, 1999 was dedicated. The trail was constructed to avoid the Bear Creek drainage. This was done to reduce environmental impacts and ensure that the trail can be used by all types of mountain bikes.

This plan would include an assessment of the local economy and tourist market. The committee would also review potential trail sites and recommend them.

The International Mountain Bike Association maintains the MTB Project database, which contains information about mountain biking trails. Adventure Projects created the database. They are a company that builds authentic communities for outdoor sports. The database is not the only thing included in the project. There are also photos, virtual rides, and a website.
